Mikel Arteta has claimed that Thomas Partey was really good as Arsenal produced a superb performance to beat Manchester United on Sunday, in comments reported by Football London.

The Gunners were the better side throughout their clash at Old Trafford. And they took the decisive lead during the second-half after Hector Bellerin was fouled inside the penalty area.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored from the spot. But it was Arsenal’s performance in the middle of the park that seemed to impress most Gunners fans.

Mohamed Elneny’s display was lauded on social media. But alongside him, Partey was outstanding. He seemed to be everywhere throughout the game.

And following the victory, Arteta praised Partey’s performance before choosing to focus on the entire team.

“He was really good,” he said, as reported by Football London. “I wouldn’t like to go into individuals. They all contributed a lot. I’m glad that whoever I pick is giving absolutely everything and they play with a lot of courage.”

Partey – who earns £200,000-a-week, according to The Sun – seemed to be a standout performer for the visitors. As shown by Whoscored.com, he made 55 successful passes. Elneny was the only player on the pitch to provide more.

Meanwhile, he also made four successful tackles, one clearance and two interceptions.

It was certainly the kind of performance that suggested that Arsenal may have landed a gem.

And, while Arteta may not have been too keen to spend too long focusing on the 27-year-old’s performance on this occasion, the early signs suggest that the Arsenal boss will have a lot more to say about the summer signing as the weeks go on.
