Mikel Arteta is reportedly expected to start David Raya once again as Arsenal face Sevilla in the Champions League tonight.

That’s according to the BBC, with the outlet claiming that Aaron Ramsdale has travelled to Spain with the Arsenal squad after missing the clash against Chelsea.

Ramsdale missed the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge following the birth of his son but was spotted back in training yesterday.

The 25-year-old will be hoping to force his way back into Mikel Arteta’s squad after Raya has emerged as the preferred choice between the sticks recently.

Indeed, Raya has started every single Premier League and Champions League game since the 1-0 win at Goodison Park last month.

And it seems the Spaniard is set to keep his place in the side despite a shaky display at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Arteta expected to start Raya against Sevilla

The BBC reports that Raya is expected to start in goal for Arsenal’s trip to Sevilla this evening.

Raya was at fault for Mykhaylo Mudryk’s goal in the 2-2 draw at Chelsea on Saturday.

The Spaniard was caught off his line and nearly gifted another goal to the Blues as he gave the ball straight to Cole Palmer in the second half.

Raya arrived from Brentford over the summer as Arsenal snapped up the Spaniard on a season-long loan deal.

The Gunners have the option to sign the goalkeeper permanently for £30 million next summer.

He’s yet to convince the Arsenal faithful that he should be Arsenal’s number one moving forward, with many calling for Ramsdale to get another opportunity after Saturday’s draw.

But it seems evident that Arteta favours the 28-year-old at this moment in time and he looks set to start once again on Tuesday evening.

Raya will be hoping to put in a more assured display between the sticks as Ramsdale will be eagerly awaiting his opportunity.
