With the January transfer window heating up, former Gunner Mikael Silvestre has been sharing his thoughts on Arsenal’s plans.
Mikel Arteta’s side were expected to have a quiet window, that was before they lost three games in a row.

And given the nature of those defeats, performances littered with missed chances, the general feeling is that Arsenal need a new striker.
That being said, it’s also thought that Arteta simply has no money to operate with in January owing to FFP restrictions.
Consequently, numerous fans and pundits are urging for certain stars to be sold in order to raise money to bid for the likes of Ivan Toney or Dusan Vlahovic.
Aaron Ramsdale is one of the names often mentioned in that regard, purely because of his unexpected move to the bench this season.
And despite producing a performance that impressed Ian Wright against Liverpool, there’s no suggestion he’ll move back to number one.
That being said, Mikael Silvestre has now warned Arsenal against selling Ramsdale in January.
Speaking via GGRecon, the former Arsenal man appreciated the difficulty of the situation but thought the keeper should stay for now.
Mikael Silvestre warns Arsenal about selling Aaron Ramsdale in January
Silvestre said: “I don’t believe in a club having two number-one goalkeepers.
“You need certainty in that position as goalkeepers need to prepare, be ready and know that they’re going to play.

“It looks as if David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale have a good understanding, a good relationship and it’s important for them to both support each other.
“However, the reality is that only one of them gets to play.
“If Arsenal allowed Aaron Ramsdale to leave in January, then they’re going to have to go out and find a replacement for him.”
“It creates a domino effect. I believe that Aaron should stay at Arsenal, but I do sympathise that this situation could be tough on both him and David Raya.”
Of course, there are other players that Arteta could move on in his squad this month.
And rather than sanctioning a departure for Emile Smith Rowe, Arsenal should consider the sale of a £27m player right on the periphery of things.
Silvestre is right about Ramsdale, it would only cause stress for Arsenal if they let him leave in January.
Another keeper would need to come in, and The Gunners would be achieving very little.
