Arsenal have had some rotten luck with serious injuries over the years.

Indeed, Jack Wilshere had to retire at the age of just 30 after a string of terrible injuries throughout his career.

Eduardo broke his leg for Arsenal against Birmingham City and was never the same player after that, while Abou Diaby’s career was ended prematurely due to injuries too.

Another Arsenal player who suffered a terrible injury at one point was Aaron Ramsey.

The Welshman broke his leg against Stoke City back in 2010 at the age of just 20, and speaking on Premier League stories, the midfielder has gone into detail about how bad this injury actually was.

How bad Aaron Ramsey’s injury was

Ramsey spoke about his injury, claiming that, at one point, he thought he might never even walk again, let alone play Premier League football.

Luckily, Ramsey would come back better than ever in the years that followed and eventually he made himself something of an Arsenal legend – Patrick Vieira has even praised Ramsey in the past.

“It felt like a big bang. I looked down and I could see that my leg was broken. Then all of the emotions and those things, all the panic started to come in, then the throbbing came in and it was painful. I remember all of the medical team running on,” Ramsey said.

“At that moment in time you were worried that you might never walk again, let alone kick a ball. I’d only just started and I was worried that was the end of it already.

“All these things are going through my mind at the time.

“That was the biggest challenge for me in my career, that, the mental side of that, coming back from it took so long.”

Aaron Ramsey’s stats for Arsenal

Ramsey’s career was very nearly cut short due to a terrible injury in 2010, but, luckily, he came back, and he returned better than ever before.

Indeed, when suffering such an injury at such a young age, there’s a worry that you may never be able to fulfil your potential.

Luckily though, Ramsey managed to become an absolute star for Arsenal, becoming a mainstay at the club, scoring plenty of goals and grabbing plenty of assists along the way.

Even now, 15 years later, Ramsey is still playing, turning out for Cardiff City in the Championship. In fact, Ramsey played against Stoke again last month.

Ramsey’s injury was a terrible moment in his career, but, ultimately, the midfielder still managed to become a top Premier League player.
