West Ham United have had their fair share of players who could be described as underrated.

Michael Carrick was an underrated player during his time at Upton Park, while, even these days, James Ward-Prowse is somewhat underrated as a player.

Speaking to the Beast Mode On Podcast, Michail Antonio has been playing a game of word association, and he named another West Ham player when he was asked to pick a player who he believes is ‘underrated’ these days.

Indeed, Antonio was asked to name a player who came to mind when he heard the word ‘underrated’, and, interestingly, he picked Jarrod Bowen.

Bowen has earned plenty of praise in his time at West Ham, but there’s still this feeling that he doesn’t quite get the recognition he deserves.

Indeed, Bowen doesn’t quite get the credit he should get, he only has 16 England caps to his name, and, even then, a lot of those international appearances have been off the bench.

Sadly, Bowen hasn’t been recognised for the talent he is, and perhaps that’s due to the fact West Ham aren’t as fashionable as certain other teams in the Premier League.

If anyone knows just how good a player Jarrod Bowen is, it’s Michail Antonio.

Indeed, Antonio has spent tons of time alongside the £20m man at West Ham, and he’s seen first-hand what a brilliant footballer the winger is.

Bowen’s record alongside Antonio tells the whole story here.

83 goal contributions in 167 games is a fantastic return for any player, and, as Antonio says, it only serves to show what an underrated player the West Ham captain is.

Bowen will likely play a key role for West Ham again this season as they look to kick on under Graeme Potter, and his attacking output will be vital as the Hammers look to climb the league table.
