Michael Owen has given his instant reaction after seeing Manchester United lose to Bournemouth and it just about sums it up.

Old Trafford was as dismal as it has been for years as Bournemouth rolled into town and hammered United into submission. Indeed, but for VAR, it could have been even worse.

Erik ten Hag now faces huge pressure despite winning manager of the month and it wouldn’t surprise anyone if the board took action

And watching on for Premier League Productions, Michael Owen has admitted that watching United confuses him, with the former Red Devils striker saying there is just no plan in place for the team.

“There is no identity in this team whatsoever, I don’t know what they’re trying to do, counter-attacking, possession team? I’ve got no idea what they are. I’m not convinced by this Man Utd team at all, and I haven’t been for years now,” Owen said.

Manchester United need drastic action

There are two or three things that can happen at Manchester United right now.

They can either part ways with yet another manager and hope to hit the reset button once again.

They can move the players on who are quite clearly causing an issue at the club and ultimately, don’t seem too bothered about playing for them.

Or, they can wait for Jim Ratcliffe’s part takeover to go through and hope for a change in the culture of the place.

In the end, it might be a mix of all three that happens but today felt like a big change inside Old Trafford.

Something needs to be done at Manchester United and done quickly. Things have turned sour before and they’ll go sour again if nothing is done.
