Tottenham Hotspur have had a number of underrated players over the years.
From Mousa Dembele to Pape Matar Sarr, Spurs have had a number of players who don’t quite get the credit they deserve.
Michael Dawson has been speaking about his time at Tottenham on the Off The Shelf Podcast, and he’s been discussing one player who he believes even Spurs fans didn’t fully appreciate

Tottenham fans didn’t fully appreciate one player
Speaking on the podcast, Dawson discussing Jermaine Jenas’ time at Tottenham.
Dawson says that the £7m man was a top-class player, and he reckons that Tottenham fans really didn’t appreciate his talents as much as they should have.
“I knew JJ from his Forest days, he was the one everyone wanted to be like. What a player, he could play centre-half, midfield, he was class, he had everything. He was probably a player Spurs fans didn’t appreciate as much as they should have done. His engine up and down, in both boxes he was magnificent, a bit like Pape does,” Dawson said.
Jermaine Jenas was talented
It’s easy to forget just how good a player Jermaine Jenas was when he was coming through.
He was the PFA Young Player of the Year at one point for a reason, he had bags of ability, but sadly, he never quite fulfilled that potential.
Aaron Lennon has also stated that Jenas was quite underrated at Tottenham.
Injuries caused him a lot of problems during his time at Tottenham, while competition for places was rife as the likes of Luka Modric, Tom Huddlestone and Wilson Palacios all jockeyed for position.
Jenas could’ve been a top player in another era if things worked out differently, but instead, he was probably quite an underappreciated player in a Tottenham team that probably could’ve achieved a lot more.
Jenas may not go down as a Spurs legend, but he had some great moments in a Tottenham shirt, that’s for sure.
