Tottenham have had their fair share of unsung heroes over the years.
The likes of Mousa Dembele, Ledley King and even Heung-Min Son haven’t got the credit they deserve at times at Spurs in recent years.
Speaking on the Off The Shelf Podcast, Aaron Lennon was asked to name who his unsung Tottenham hero was during his playing days, and he gave a very interesting answer.
Lennon says that Jermaine Jenas never really got the credit he deserved at Spurs, claiming that he was actually a top player who got way too much stick from the fanbase.

Jermaine Jenas got too much stick
Lennon spoke about the one-time £7m Tottenham signing.
“Who is you Tottenham unsung hero?” Lennon was asked.
“It’s a tough question to be fair. Who got a bit of stick? I’m going to say JJ (Jermaine Jenas. When we first came through he was a top player, properly underrated, he got more stick than he deserved and not enough credit,” Lennon said.
Difficult
Lennon is right, Jenas was a top player, but he was at Spurs at a very difficult time for a midfielder.
Tottenham, quite simply, had too many top midfielders around this time, and Jenas was never really able to shine in his own right.
The likes of Luka Modric, Rafael Van der Vaart, Scott Parker, Tom Huddlestone, Wilson Palacios and even Niko Kranjcar were all fantastic or very good midfield options at Spurs during this time, so whenever any midfielder’s level began to drop, it was easy for Tottenham fans to get on their back.
Jenas didn’t perhaps live up to his potential at Tottenham, but he was a good servant who probably did deserve a bit more credit from the supporters.
