Micah Richards has given his verdict on Everton central defender Jarrad Branthwaite, a player Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur want to sign.

The former Manchester City and Aston Villa player has been hugely impressed by Branthwaite.

So, what has been said about reported Tottenham Hotspur target Jarrad Branthwaite? Let’s take a look.

Praise for Tottenham Hotspur target and Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite

Well, Everton beat Chelsea 2-0 at Goodison Park in the Premier League this past weekend. Jarrad Branthwaite started the match at centre-back and played well.

BBC Sport pundit Micah Richards was hugely impressed with the 21-year-old centre-back and believes that he could go straight to the top, comments which will surely encourage Tottenham fans.

Spurs have been linked with Branthwaite. Football Transfers reported this week that Tottenham want to sign the Everton defender in the January transfer window. The Toffees value him at £75 million.

Richards said about Branthwaite on The Rest is Football podcast: “Young Branthwaite at the back was amazing.

“He is going to the very top, he is going to the very top, His decision-making, he reads the game well, he is quick enough, he makes the right decisions.”

Spurs should bid for Branthwaite

In my view, Tottenham Hotspur should seriously consider bidding for Everton central defender Jarrad Branthwaite. Jamie O’Hara would love him at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

While I do not think that Everton will sell the 21-year-old centre-back in the middle of the season, Spurs could be able to sway the Toffees in the summer of 2024.

After all, all players have their price. And a move to Spurs could be hugely appealing to Branthwaite, who is rated very highly by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

However, Tottenham need to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season to stand a realistic chance of signing Branthwaite in the summer of 2024.

There is speculation that Manchester United want the English youngster. There will be competition for Branthwaite’s signature at the end of the season, especially if Everton get relegated from the Premier League.
