Micah Richards has told The Monday Night Club that Son Heung-min was exceptional as Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester City at the weekend, and suggested that Harry Kane would not have been as impressive without his teammate.
Spurs secured an amazing result on Saturday to boost their top-four hopes in the Premier League. And there was absolutely no doubt that Kane was the star of the show at the Etihad Stadium.

The striker scored twice, including the winner in stoppage-time. And many seemed to suggest that Kane had produced one of the best striker performances in the Premier League this season.
It was all the more noteworthy because Kane was so heavily linked with Manchester City last summer. And it seemed to take the Tottenham talisman some time to get going at the start of this campaign.

But with that, some of his teammates’ contributions may have perhaps gone under the radar.
Son provided two of the assists for Tottenham in their amazing victory. His movement throughout the game caused the champions all sorts of problems. And Richards suggests that Kane would not be as devastating were it not for Son’s display around him.
“We talk about Harry Kane but he can’t do what he does without Son. Son running in behind was absolutely exceptional,” he told The Monday Night Club.
Son Heung-min’s contribution to Tottenham this season as big as anyone else’s
Son’s contribution has been so important for Tottenham this season. In truth, Kane’s performances this term have arguably been a lot better than many seem to give him credit for.
Nevertheless, the South Korean has been vital to Spurs. He leads their goalscoring charts in the Premier League, with nine in 20 games.
He is now also in top spot for assists, with his brace at the weekend taking him above Lucas Moura.
Tottenham now find themselves in a fantastic position in the race for the top-four. Kane is now firing, having scored 10 goals since Antonio Conte arrived.
But what Son brings to Kane’s game must not go unnoticed.
