Reported Newcastle target Lucas Paqueta opened the scoring for Brazil in their 4-0 away win over Bolivia last night.

Magpies midfielder Bruno Guimaraes laid on that goal for his former Lyon teammate as they strolled to victory in their World Cup qualifier.

Then in the second half, Paqueta returned the favour for Bruno, laying on a goal for him to score to make it 3-0 on 66 minutes.

Bruno is still feeling his way into life at Newcastle, and getting towards full fitness as well as adjusting to the demands of the Premier League.

But he has shown signs of his quality already, not least in his Goal of the Month contender against Southampton.

Mehrdad Ghodoussi was clearly impressed with the contribution of the two players last night, sending a public message on Twitter to mark Bruno’s assist and goal.

24-year-old Paqueta came to watch Bruno at Southampton, underlining the closeness between the pair of countrymen.

Could that convince Paqueta to come to Tyneside in the summer? Time will tell, but nights like last night can’t exactly hurt.

The link-up between the pair was mouthwatering in the thumping win and perhaps we could be seeing it on a more regular basis in the Premier League next term.
