Matheus Cunha ‘shocked’ Manchester United fans after ‘world class’ display in Fulham draw

Ruben Amorim will be forced to go back to the drawing board at Manchester United following the 1-1 draw against Fulham.

The Red Devils lost against Arsenal on the opening day, and with a single goal separating the sides, there were plenty of positives for Amorim to take away despite the loss.

At Craven Cottage, Calvin Bassey wrestled down Mason Mount inside the penalty area in the 33rd minute, with referee Chris Kavanagh pointing to the spot after VAR intervention.

Bruno Fernandes stepped up to give Manchester United the lead and blasted his penalty over the crossbar, but Leny Yoro spared the captain’s blushes after his header deflected off Rodrigo Muniz for an own goal.

It was a frustrating afternoon; however, Gary Neville blasted the Premier League’s rules after Bassey was forced to wait 30 seconds on the side of the pitch following a head collision in the first half.

Nevertheless, one Manchester United player shone for the visitors despite the disappointing result, and his efforts were not lost on the Old Trafford faithful.

Manchester United fans are in love with Matheus Cunha

Matheus Cunha impressed the fans against Arsenal in his league debut for the club – he has seamlessly slotted into the first team set-up.

As widely reported last season, Man United had glaring problems in attack, and addressing these issues was at the top of the priority list as Cunha kicked off the summer rebuild at Old Trafford, joining from Wolves.

The 26-year-old was a standout performer at Molineux, particularly last year, and it appears Cunha is living up to expectations, although he is still waiting to open his account in Manchester.

However, goal contributions are only one part of Cunha’s game, and the Man United supporters are more than pleased with his overall displays thus far.

Although the goals are yet to come for the Brazilian, it is clear that he is having a profound impact on the Man United squad, and the fans are just happy to see him represent their club.

Mason Mount also impressed for Manchester United

Cunha will naturally attract the plaudits as he is the new man at Old Trafford, but Mason Mount deserves his flowers after his impressive display against Fulham.

The Englishman has endured a tough time throughout his Man United career, but he has enjoyed a recent run of form in the first team at the start of the season.

Albeit once Benjamin Sesko is deemed ready to start in the Premier League, Mount’s position as a starter will be under threat.

However, if he continues this rich vein of form, it will be incredibly difficult for Amorim to justify benching the 26-year-old in favor of his new centre forward.
