Mateo Joseph and Leeds United target Harrison Ashby have lauded Sonny Perkins on Instagram in reaction to the 18-year-old’s post following a stunning international break in which he scored five goals.

Few Leeds players at any age level are in better form right now than Perkins. He linked up with England’s under-19s off the back a superb run for the Whites’ under-21s.

And he has now helped the Young Lions to three wins during this break. In fact, he found the back of the net five times in the three games. He also provided an assist in Tuesday’s win over Denmark.

Perkins is surely knocking on the first-team door at Elland Road. So it is no surprise that he has been lauded on Instagram after posting about his form in this break.

Joseph probably summed it up best, while there was also a response from Ashby. Ashby played alongside Perkins at West Ham. And reports from Give Me Sport claimed that Leeds also want the young right-back

Jesse Marsch faces a tough call on Perkins upon the youngster’s return to Thorp Arch. There are likely to be plenty of supporters who hope to see him in the squad for the clash with Aston Villa.

However, Marsch will also be wary of promoting the teenager too soon. He does have Premier League experience, having made his debut for West Ham before his switch.

But he is still a work in progress. And Leeds do have some exciting options in that three behind the striker.

This weekend may come too soon for Perkins. But his form over the last few weeks certainly suggests that his time will come. And he may not have to wait too long.
