Martinelli sends three-word Instagram message to Emi Martinez
Former Arsenal goalkeeper Emi Martinez has been the talk of the town after his heroics for Aston Villa against Manchester United at Old Trafford this afternoon.
Dean Smith’s side went into the game as underdogs and nobody really expected them to pull off a victory. However, an 88th minute Kortney Hause goal followed by Bruno Fernandes’ missed penalty gave the Villans all three points.
United had 28 shots at goal this afternoon, but only four were on target. Martinez comfortably dealt with those, but it was his antics just before Bruno Fernandes’ penalty that has made the headlines.
Just as Fernandes was about to place the ball on the spot, Martinez went up and urged Cristiano Ronaldo to take the penalty. He had quite a few words to say to the two Portuguese superstars, and that must have had an impact.
Fernandes stepped up instead of Ronaldo and blasted his penalty over the bar. Martinez, predictably, was delighted and he made sure everyone in the ground was aware of his feelings after the final whistle.

Martinez was a very popular figure at Arsenal. Everyone at the Emirates loved him and many Gooners are still irked at the fact that Mikel Arteta sold him to Aston Villa for just £17 million a little over a year ago. (BBC)
Like every Aston Villa fan, Arsenal supporters loved Martinez’s antics at Old Trafford this afternoon. The Argentine’s former teammate, Martinelli, seems to have enjoyed it too, and he made that clear on Instagram.
Replying to Martinez’s latest post on the photo-sharing platform, Martinelli wrote: “What a player”. We can’t help but agree with the little Brazilian.
