Martin Odegaard made a claim about David Raya after Arsenal thrashed Sheffield United last night.
We’ve barely heard David Raya’s name mentioned in recent weeks as Arsenal continue to blow opposition sides away.
The Gunners have netted 31 goals and picked up seven consecutive wins in the process in the league.
During their winning streak, Raya has conceded just three goals, with Arsenal conceding an average of just 0.31(xG) across their last seven games.
But while it’s Arsenal’s attacking players receiving the plaudits right now, Martin Odegaard was keen to point out Raya’s contributions after last night’s win at Bramall Lane.

Odegaard makes claim about Raya after Arsenal thrash Sheffield United
Speaking to Sky Sports, Odegaard claimed that Raya and the Arsenal backline provide the foundations for the attacking players to thrive.
“I think it’s unbelievable the work we put in without the ball,” the Arsenal skipper said. “I think it’s easy when you look at us, we win 6-0 today and some of the other games we played recently we won a lot.
“You can talk about what we do in front of the goal, but I think the work we do without the ball, from the front line all the way to the back to the goalkeeper, it’s really good and it’s a pleasure to be a part of that and we feel really safe when we’re defending and I think that’s so crucial.
“It makes it a lot easier for us to attack as well so we have to find the right balance and I think we’re doing that good at the moment.”

It’s fair to say that Raya endured a shaky start to life at the Emirates Stadium after his summer switch from Brentford.
Much was made about the 28-year-old replacing fan-favourite Aaron Ramsdale between the sticks.
But as Ian Wright has recently claimed, Mikel Arteta’s decision to sign the Spaniard has been proven right in recent weeks.
Raya’s composure on the ball has been a huge asset for the Gunners and it’s helped them to completely dominate games.
