Mark Travers lauds Arsenal signing Aaron Ramsdale

Aaron Ramsdale has received further plaudits following his recent promotion to the Arsenal starting lineup, with former teammate Mark Travers telling the Bournemouth Daily Echo that he deserves his ‘unbelievable’ big move.

Ramsdale looks to be on his way towards securing cult-hero status at the Emirates after three very bright displays for Mikel Arteta’s side.

In fact, he has not yet conceded a goal for the Gunners. And it would appear that he has potentially wrestled the number one spot away from Bernd Leno.

Arteta definitely faces a key decision ahead of the North London derby. Leno is clearly the more experienced option. And Ramsdale is yet to be really tested between the sticks.

But dropping Ramsdale would be a controversial move.

And Ramsdale has received a further vote of confidence in the form of his old Bournemouth teammate Travers. The Republic of Ireland international made it clear just how highly he rates the Arsenal man.

“I am just thrilled for him to get his opportunity and his big move. He deserves it,” he told the Bournemouth Daily Echo.

“He has been unbelievable the past two seasons and it’s great to see him playing in the Prem.

“Hopefully he can stay in and I’m sure he will because he’s an unbelievable talent. Only 23 as well, to be playing – he’s done great and he can hopefully keep doing that.”

Arteta cannot afford to not win NLD should he drop Ramsdale from Arsenal starting lineup

Some actually praised Bernd Leno for his display at Manchester City. There were fans who felt that he was one of the only players who did okay.

However, bringing Leno back for Sunday’s North London derby would be a roll of the dice from Arteta.

Ramsdale has not yet been properly tested. But he has done nothing wrong. And he has been praised for his contributions so far.

He has surely forced Arteta’s hand. The Spaniard would certainly be asking for trouble if he decided to bring Leno back in.
