Report: World Cup finalist Arsenal have scouted can now leave for just £10m with Newcastle keen
He might have lost in the World Cup final with France today, but English football could be about to see a lot more of Marcus Thuram.
Thuram came on against Argentina to good effect. His presence up front helped the French get back into the game before they were cruelly beaten on penalties by Leo Messi’s troops.
However, while the World Cup might be over, we might get to see Thuram soon enough. A report from Bild this weekend has claimed that Borussia Monchengladbach are prepared to sell Thuram for as little as £10m in the January window.
This, of course, is good news for onlooking clubs. West Ham have been credited with liking the look of Thuram, while reports have also suggested Arsenal have scouted the forward as well. Further, Newcastle United are also thought to be considering making a bid to land Thuram as well.
Gladbach are clearly keen to bring in some money for Thuram while they can. And with English clubs renowned for spending money in January, the German side will be hopeful that £10m proves no issue for those admiring clubs.
TBR’s View: Thuram final performance shows his class
There is no doubting Marcus Thuram is a player of high quality. He was excellent during that final today and he showed just why there is a clamour for his signature.
At £10m, Thuram is a bargain as well. £10m doesn’t get many top class players nowadays but it’s definitely worth spending on a player like this.
The Premier League is a different kettle of fish as we know. But Thuram has shown enough over in Qatar and his time in Germany to suggest he can be a hit. Whoever does win the race is getting a good forward who, in theory, should only improve further.
