Marc Guehi deals Liverpool transfer blow as future plans are revealed

TBR Football understands that Marc Guehi and his camp are assessing the options available to him but they have reset the situation following his failed move to Liverpool.

As previously revealed, Liverpool will return to Guehi in January after the England international almost arrived at Anfield on deadline day.

However, whilst Guehi could still join Liverpool, they are no further ahead in the chase for the player than anyone else, sources have confirmed to TBR Football.

In the Premier League former club Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City and Manchester United are all ready to make contract offers in the New Year.

However, interest from within Europe is very strong and TBR Football understands there is a good chance Guehi ends up moving abroad.

Exclusive: Liverpool hold no advantage in Marc Guehi pursuit

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has exclusively revealed that although the Reds pushed hardest in the summer, the Crystal Palace captain will explore all his available options when his contract expires in 2026.

Bailey confirmed: “The slate has been wiped clean with Guehi. This is a new transfer. What has been done, said, or bid before is now forgotten.

“That is what I am being told. Every club wanting Guehi has started from the same place. It perhaps points to Liverpool not having an advantage as some would previously believe, but again, that doesn’t mean he won’t end up at Anfield.

“Guehi is emerging as possibly one of the most in-demand Bosman free transfers of all time, there is not a major club in Europe that is not keen.”

As TBR Football has previously confirmed, German giants Bayern Munich are hugely keen on Guehi, but so too are Spanish trio Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid.

Inter Milan and Juventus have had conversations, while Paris Saint-Germain are keeping tabs on the situation.

The Reds also have centre-back Ibrahima Konate’s contract expiring at the end of the season, and while talks continue regarding fresh terms, Liverpool want both Konate and Guehi at Anfield next year.

Arne Slot regrets missing out on Guehi, and now the Dutchman faces the real possibility of the defender signing elsewhere despite being a matter of hours away from becoming a Liverpool player in the summer.

The 25-year-old is fully focused on enjoying a successful final campaign at Selhurst Park – Guehi has produced sensational performances already this season as he aims to stake a claim in the England set-up ahead of the World Cup.

Liverpool have an alternative transfer target to Marc Guehi

Although the Reds intend to return to the table for Guehi, the groundwork laid this summer will help to sway the defender’s decision, he is not the only target on Merseyside.

TBR Football exclusively revealed Liverpool are monitoring Taras Mykhavko, a Ukrainian youth prospect, and will face competition from rivals Manchester United.

The 20-year-old was named the Ukrainian Premier League’s Young Player of the Year last season as he helped Dynamo Kyiv claim the league title.

Players based in Eastern Europe have a proven track record of settling in quickly in the Premier League, and with Giovanni Leoni showing promise before his season-ending injury, the Reds will have no qualms formalising their interest in Mykhavko.
