Bad news for Liverpool in Marc Guehi pursuit as Champions League giants watch Palace star pick apart Reds

Bayern Munich are very much in the Marc Guehi conversation and TBR Football understands that the Bavarian giants were in attendance to see him help Crystal Palace beat Liverpool at the weekend.

Guehi saw a deadline day move to Liverpool fall through but he has brushed that disappointment off to enjoy a stunning start to the new season.

Marc Guehi has led Crystal Palace to an unbeaten start this campaign while also starring for England and becoming Thomas Tuchel’s first-choice central defender.

Liverpool remain keen on Guehi and, as we have revealed, Palace are expecting the Reds to make a renewed bid for him in January – but others are keen. Interest from Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City is already known.

But Guehi will have the option of moving abroad with Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona both monitoring him.

Exclusive: Marc Guehi wanted by every major club in Europe

TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can also confirm that Bayern Munich are very much in the conversation, and they have done their homework on Guehi.

“We are told that [Michael] Olise and [Harry] Kane have recommended Guehi to club officials – but they are already well aware of Guehi’s situation,” Bailey said.

“They took the chance to see Guehi in action against Alexander Isak at the weekend, and will have no doubt departed Selhurst Park, impressed with what they saw.

“Guehi, as I have previously said, is emerging as one of the most wanted potential Bosman free transfers in history – in terms of how many top clubs want him and are looking at landing him. It really is every major club in Europe.”

Bayern are in danger of losing one of their first-choice defenders with Dayot Upamecano – like Guehi – also out of contract at the end of the season.

The Champions League giants have had huge recent success in raiding the Premier League with Kane, Luis Diaz and Olise starring for the club.

What Arne Slot has said about Liverpool target Marc Guehi

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has been reluctant to talk about his failed pursuit of Guehi over the summer, but he praised the centre-back before his side’s defeat at Selhurst Park.

“I don’t think one day before we play them to talk about that again,” said Slot. “He’s a Crystal Palace player and he’s been very important for them as long as he’s there.

“We have to prepare for Crystal Palace, who are a very good team. I think they haven’t lost in 17 games in a row now, and he’s part of that.”

Guehi didn’t put a foot wrong against the club that came closest to signing him, and his top-level performances mean his long-term future remains very much up in the air.
