Liverpool and Manchester United have both been linked with Benjamin Pavard in the summer transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds and Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils have both made several high-profile signings ahead of the new season.

Liverpool have signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. Meanwhile, Man United have landed Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlung, Mason Mount and Jonny Evans.

With regards to Pavard, the Anfield outfit has reportedly been in talks with Bayern Munich over his signing.

However, Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has now reported that the Old Trafford side is leading the race.

He said Man United are “at this stage the favorite in the poker” for Pavard, who seems keen on a move to the club.

Apparently, “concrete talks are ongoing and positive” between the two clubs over the £26million-rated player.

Our view

Both Man United and Liverpool are seemingly looking to bolster their ranks at full-back.

And it’s no shock at all to see both the Red Devils and the Reds reportedly trying for Pavard.

He’s a serial winner who has lifted numerous league titles as well as the 2018 World Cup.

Many rate the right-back highly. 90Min stated that the player is ‘one of Europe’s most talented full-backs’.

“He’s an underrated player,” Thomas Tuchel said earlier this year about Pavard, as per L’Equipe.

“He can adapt to the highest level and he defends rigorously.

“He’s a top team player, he immediately had my confidence and proved to me that I had been right.”

The 27-year-old has also won the Champions League. Needless to say, he ticks many boxes for Liverpool and Man United.

Apparently, Chelsea and Barcelona have also taken a liking to Pavard. There’s certainly a lot of competition for his services.

It looks like Man United are currently winning the race, so let’s see what Liverpool – and the other suitors – have in store.
