Manchester United are making another new signing after apparently beating off a host of competition abroad to land one of the top prospects in England.

United are having a busy summer so far and have already signed players like Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee.

Right-back Noussair Mazraoui is also set to sign, while a deal to Matthijs de Ligt remains on their agenda.

However, it is closer to home in the Premier League where United will be delighted with one piece of business.

That piece of business comes in the form of signing now former Arsenal prospect, Chido Obi-Martin.

The teenager made headlines last season with his goalscoring exploits at Arsenal but has chosen not to sign a new deal, leading to interest from United.

And now, it looks like United have tied up a contract for the young striker.

Manchester United agree to sign Chido Obi-Martin after his Arsenal release

Giving an update for Sky Sports, Dharmesh Sheth and Adrian Kajumba had the following to say on Obi-Martin to United.

“Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign 16-year-old striker Chido Obi-Martin. He’s expected to have a medical in the coming days,” Sky’s update said.

“The former Arsenal player – who left the club at the end of his contract – turned down superior offers from Germany to sign for United.

“A new deal with Arsenal had been agreed but he wanted to move on because he had doubts over his potential pathway into first team football and the club’s project.

“Obi-Martin feels his career development is best served at a new club. He scored ten goals in a game for Arsenal U16 in November.”

Obi-Martin is believed to have really annoyed Arsenal insiders with his demands, which ultimately led to him being moved on.

However, Arsenal’s loss is United’s gain and it gives them yet another talented youngster to bring through.
