Arsenal will be looking to make it third time lucky this season in their attempts to dethrone Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta‘s side have been closing the gap on his former club over recent years and came agonisingly close over the last two campaigns.
Last season, Arsenal finished just two points off City showing just how fine the margins are between the two clubs.
A positive transfer window could be all it takes for the Gunners to finally leapfrog City in the race for the title.
It has been a slow start to the summer spending in north London but Arsenal are now really close to signing Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.
Speaking from City’s pre-season tour, Erling Haaland has already been quizzed on the upcoming season’s expected title race with Arsenal.

What Erling Haaland said about Arsenal’s 2024/25 title hopes
City have been pushed for the title over the last four years with Liverpool the only club able to prevent them from making it seven in a row back in the 2019/20 season.
But the Gunners appear to be building something in north London which could provide long-standing competition at the top of the table.
Arsenal ended the 2023/24 campaign with the Premier League’s best defensive record and yet they are close to adding a player of Calafiori’s calibre.
City have not done a great deal of business themselves and now find themselves already speaking about their title rivals during pre-season.

Like Arsenal, City have travelled to the United States for their pre-season tour where they will be taking on AC Milan tonight.
And Haaland has already been made to discuss the expected title race between the two clubs ahead of the new season.
“Yeah, I am really proud of what we did. Last year was two points, so they were really close, but how it will be this season, I don’t know,” he told the media.
“I don’t really think of it, to be honest. I try to live in the moment and to don’t think what’s going to happen in May. I don’t think that’s a good thing for your brain to think of.”
Adding more players would be a real statement of intent from Arsenal
With a deal for Calafiori looking all but sealed, Arsenal have the opportunity to send a real statement of intent to City this summer.
Having fallen just short last season, bringing in some quality additions would surely put City on edge going into the new campaign.
And that is exactly what the Gunners are looking to do with Arsenal showing a real interest in midfielder Mikel Merino.
The Spaniard enjoyed a brilliant Euro 2024 as he got his hands on the trophy and could provide Arsenal with quality in depth at the very least.
It is still weeks until the season starts and already the mind games are beginning.
