Arsenal are now closing in on their first major signing of the summer with the Bologna centre-back Riccardo Calafiori.
Mikel Arteta has been made to wait patiently but the Gunners finally look set to get their man with a medical in place.
Riccardo Calafiori agreed personal terms with Arsenal on a five-year deal over three weeks ago now.
But discussions between the two clubs and even FC Basel – Calafiori’s former club – have taken time to finalise.
However, around six weeks into the window, Arsenal finally look as if they are about to sign their main target of the summer.

What Fabrizio Romano has heard about Arsenal and Riccardo Calafiori
The north London side are now deep into pre-season with the players making the trip to Los Angeles where they have already played Bournemouth.
Arsenal are now even seeing some of their international players begin to trickle back into the squad following their delayed holidays.
However, the only addition so far at the club has been the young goalkeeper Charlie Setford from Ajax.
But this is soon about to change with Calafiori set to join, although there has been one change to the plan over recent hours.

According to Romano, Calafiori is now set to travel to London today [Saturday 27 June] in the early morning.
The Italian is travelling from the capital, Rome, where he will then begin his medical to take one big step closer to becoming an Arsenal player.
It is claimed the plans had to be rescheduled once again as Arsenal and Bologna completed the forms fairly late on.
However, once the medical is complete, Calafiori will then be jetting off to LA where he will meet his new squad for the first time.
Mikel Arteta wants Riccardo Calafiori in Los Angeles
Arteta has already decided he wants Calafiori to join his Arsenal teammates in Los Angeles as soon as he has completed his medical.
Calafiori is not going to arrive in time to play in the game on Saturday night [US time] against Manchester United, however, that is not the point.
The Arsenal boss wants Calafiori on the tour of the States to help him bond with his new teammates ahead of the 2024/25 campaign where Arsenal will be battling for the title.
Although he will be missing the game against United, Arsenal play Liverpool on Wednesday night [US time] which could see the Italian make his debut.
