The first Manchester derby of the Premier League season is here, and it comes at an important time for both Pep Guardiola and Ruben Amorim.

It’s not been an easy start to the season for either Manchester side, who have both stumbled out of the blocks so far.

Manchester City won their opening game against Wolves in fine fashion, but defeats to Tottenham and Brighton have since followed.

Pep Guardiola will be looking for solutions quickly, with form often going out of the window when it comes to local rivalries.

Manchester United have a little bit of momentum, picking up a win just before the international break, but it wasn’t in convincing fashion.

Ruben Amorim is already under pressure to perform, following a summer transfer window filled with heavy spending.

So, with both teams searching for a big win, the stakes are raised ahead of another enthralling Manchester derby.

Manchester derby prediction

It’s tough to predict a winner in the Manchester derby, given the tough start that both teams have faced so far.

While many may point to Man City’s quality as a factor, they have also looked defensively fragile.

Man United have struggled for goals so far, but their ability to hit teams on the counter could be a strength in such a meeting.

It may end up being a tight match between two flawed teams, with a mistake one way or the other likely to decide the encounter.

Prediction: Manchester City 1-1 Manchester United.
