Omar Marmoush is a serious injury doubt for Manchester City ahead of their clash with local rivals Manchester United over the weekend.
The 26-year-old has started two of Man City’s three Premier League matches so far, picking up one assist during those minutes on the pitch.
Having joined the club in January from Eintracht Frankfurt, Omar Marmoush has looked like a real threat in the attacking areas, offering some support to the ever-reliable Erling Haaland.
Despite Man City’s opening-day win over Wolves, the Cityzens have struggled to kickstart their season, slumping to consecutive defeats before the international break.
It doesn’t get much easier for Pep Guardiola, with the Manchester derby coming up, and a fresh injury for Marmoush that threatens to impact the team for the foreseeable future.

Omar Marmoush is likely to miss the Manchester derby with a knee injury update
With Man City looking to kick on with some wins after the international break, it is far from ideal that one of their key stars is now facing a potential spell on the sidelines.
Marmoush picked up an issue with his knee within just a few minutes of Egypt’s World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso, which ended 0-0.
The forward was scythed to the ground in a dangerous tackle, which appeared to connect with his knee.
The Egyptian Football Association on social media described the injury as a “bruised knee ligament”.
Injury expert Physio Scout took to social media to explain the extent of the injury, stating that the tackle raises concerns surrounding an MCL injury.
If that is the case, it would then depend on the grade, with a grade one lasting anywhere from one week to three, while a grade two could last up to six weeks.
There is a chance that it could just be a bruise to the bone, which the expert claims would be “quite lucky”, as he could be in contention for the Manchester derby in that case.
However, with scans now expected for the star, it remains to be seen just how bad the problem is.

Which games could Omar Marmoush miss for Manchester City while injured
If Marmoush makes a return to action over the weekend for Man City’s clash with Man United, then plenty of supporters will breathe a sigh of relief.
However, if the Egyptian star is out of action for a while, then he could miss some important matches.

The Manchester derby is up first, while beyond that is a return to the Champions League, with a huge match against Napoli.
Arsenal then await, before the fixture schedule eases slightly, but with the inclusion of some key cup matches and a continuation on the European front.
It remains to be seen exactly how long Marmoush could be missing for, but upcoming scans will give a better picture of the issue facing him.
