Lukas Nmecha is closing in on completing a reported move from Manchester City to RB Leipzig. Having sparkled in Belgian football with Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht, Leipzig have agreed a £8.5million fee. Manchester City fans have reacted as Nmecha looks set to join Leipzig.

Nmecha, 22, has struggled in previous loan spells. Failing to score at Wolfsburg and Middlesbrough, Nmecha only netted three times in 44 games for Preston. But a move to Anderlecht has brought the best out in him. Under Kompany, he has scored a whopping 21 goals in 41 outings.

That form has finally seen Nmecha turn potential into proven quality – and it has attracted suitors. Anderlecht wanted to keep the Germany Under-21 sensation on a permanent deal, but Nmecha has other ideas. Nieuwsblad claim that Leipzig are set to sign Nmecha for a small-ish fee of £8.5million.

It isn’t the priciest fee in the world, because Nmecha is about to enter the last 12 months of his City contract. So, City had to sell him this summer in order to bring some cash in for him – and that means reducing his asking price in order to get him off the books. Leipzig have taken advantage.
