Manchester City fans react as Guardiola reportedly eyes £22m Champions League ace
Manchester City have reportedly joined Everton and West Ham in tracking Club Brugge wonderkid Charles De Ketelaere – and City fans have reacted.
De Ketelaere, 20, has broken onto Manchester City’s radar after facing Pep Guardiola’s side on Tuesday in the Champions League – a 5-1 win for City.
While he might have had the chance to really impress in the match, he has certainly caught the eye over the last 18 months for Brugge – and Belgium.
It is his versatility that is perhaps the most eye-catching trait. Last season, he played all over midfield, both wings, as a 10 and even as a striker.
Standing at 6ft 3in, but with the technical ability of a 10, he can offer a range of different qualities. It saw Roberto Martinez call him up.
He even came on as a substitute against Italy in a third-place play-off Nations League clash – scoring but failing to stop Italy from winning 2-1.
What are Manchester City fans saying about De Ketelaere?
CalcioMercato report that having watched the Belgium international on Tuesday, Guardiola was impressed – and has added him to the list.
It comes weeks after a report from the same outlet stated that West Ham and Everton were keeping a close eye on the Brugge boy’s development.
Another report, this time from FT, say that Brugge rate De Ketelaere in the region of £22million. But with City keen, that price could easily go up.
City fans also watched De Ketelaere on Tuesday and it is clear that many would like him to join the club. One fan even said he is a “KDB regen”.
