Manchester City fans on Barcelona star’s claim he would consider Etihad move

Barcelona star Riqui Puig said earlier this week that if he was to ever leave the Nou Camp, the club he would like to join is Manchester City. The Spanish club are in an awful financial position and need to sell players. Puig could be one of those, and Manchester City fans have reacted.

Puig, 21, has broken into Barcelona’s side on a much more regular basis over the past season. With 39 senior appearances for Barcelona to his name, 24 of those came under Ronald Koeman during 2020-21. But he has been overtaken by the form of 18-year-old wonderkid Pedri.

Barcelona need to sell players this summer and have already cashed in on Junior Firpo – offloading him to Leeds for a fee that is believed to be in the region of £15million. Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Puig said if he had to leave Barcelona – he would join Man City, largely because of Guardiola.

Well, it is clear that the majority would like to see Puig signed. Certainly, a move has a chance. The midfielder himself is in the final two years of his current contract. He has a release clause, according to Give Me Sport, worth a whopping £85million.

Manchester City have already seen Eric Garcia and Sergio Aguero join Barcelona on free transfers. Plenty of others have been linked including Aymeric Laporte, Ilkay Gundogan and more. City fans have suggested swap deals, including those two and even Bernardo Silva.
