‘Manager’s dream’: Former Spurs boss thinks Tottenham Hotspur player has responded perfectly to Conte decision

Tottenham Hotspur rounded off their impressive start to the season with an emphatic 6-2 victory over Leicester City.

Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood was covering the game for the Premier League.

Sherwood could not speak highly enough of South Korean forward Son Heung-min.

The 30-year-old was dropped to the bench for the first time this season, however Son responded brilliantly to Antonio Conte’s decision.

After coming on with half an hour left to play, Son scored a magnificent hat-trick and finally broke his scoring duck.

Plenty of pundits believed Son needed to start on the bench for yesterday’s match.

Although Paul Merson believes that Son should never be dropped regardless of his form.

However, he couldn’t have sent a better message to his manager that he’s rediscovering his form.

Son put struggling Leicester to the sword, and helped maintain Tottenham’s unbeaten start to the season in the league.

Son responds brilliantly to Conte decision

The form of teammates Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison forced Conte to make a difficult decision yesterday.

The South Korean started every Premier League match he was fit for on his way to sharing the Golden Boot last season.

However, no goals and one assist in his first six league starts for his manager to rotate him out of the side.

Son responded in the perfect way to Conte’s decision against Leicester, and heads into the international break at the forefront of his manager’s thoughts.

Sherwood couldn’t praise Son enough after the match, and believes the forward is any manager’s dream.

“Well he’s done his job, he’s come off the bench and scored three goals.” Sherwood said (17/9 20:00).

“The quality of the finishes was magnificent.

“There is not one manager in world football that wouldn’t want Son Heung-min.

“For his quality, his determination, his character, he’s got everything, the whole package.

“He’s a manager’s dream, and I don’t care what manager that is, he’s an absolute dream to manage.

“You listen to him afterwards, he’s level-headed, he’s taken it on board, he’s been left out.

“He knew he had to come on and prove a point and he did.

“He’s put a lot of it down to luck this season, and I’m with him, especially in the last game, he hit the crossbar, he hit the post, goalkeepers are making saves, it just wasn’t his time.

“The quality of Son Heung-min, you are not keeping him down for long, and he’s come to the top.”
