Rio Ferdinand makes his feelings clear about whether Son Heung-min should be dropped by Tottenham v Leicester
Speaking on his Five YouTube channel, Ferdinand said that he has put the South Korean superstar into his Fantasy Premier League team this week.
That means he does not think Antonio Conte is going to drop Son, and he has backed the wideman to get back to his very best.
Son has not scored this season and has just one assist to his name – as per Transfermarkt – going into this weekend’s game against struggling Leicester.
Son backed by Ferdinand to come good for Tottenham
He said: “I’ve brought in Son. I know a few who are going to say: ‘what’s he doing? He’s mad! He isn’t scoring the goals’.
“Son produces. Golden Boot winner last year. How can you go against this guy? He will come good. Quality always rises.
“The cream always rises to the top. I’ve brought him in.”
The summer arrival of Richarlison puts added pressure on Son, because Conte now has an elite option with which to replace him.
Previous Tottenham managers would have had no choice but to keep playing Son through his bad patches in the hope that he comes through.
Now, there is the choice to leave Son on the bench, and it will be fascinating to see what Conte does up against Brendan Rodgers’ men.
In March, Conte said he would have to be “crazy” to drop the Spurs forward from his team given his importance.
