Man United remain locked in talks to sign £30m ‘rising star’ who Arsenal have bid for

Arsenal have been pretty quiet this summer but they’re progressing in talks to bring in the second signing of the window.

Mikel Merino is close to completing a move to the Emirates after impressing for Real Sociedad in La Liga and will join Riccardo Calafiori as the only two additions so far.

It remains to be seen if Arteta will dip back into the market for further reinforcements but there were rumours earlier in the window about a Euro 2024 star.

He’s now in talks with two other Premier League sides.

Man United remain in talks to sign Ferdi Kadioglu

Manchester United remain locked in talks to sign Fenerbahce wingback Ferdi Kadioglu, according to Turkish outlet Tavkim.

Kadioglu, labelled a ‘rising star’ (One Football), starred at Euro 2024 with Turkey and has been linked to a whole host of clubs around the continent.

Brighton and Hove Albion are also vying for the 24-year-old’s signature and have submitted a £30.1m bid.

Arsenal offered £17m in June for Kadioglu, so evidently he’s a player held in high regard by Arteta.

Though, it appears they opted for Calafiori instead.

Arsenal should focus on signing a striker

Arsenal should leave Kadioglu for United or Brighton as they need to allocate those funds towards a striker.

That’s the only area that’s perhaps a question mark, with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus probably not capable of firing in 20-plus goals in the Premier League.

Victor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen are thought to be on Arsenal’s radar.
