Arsenal are not having a great start to this summer’s transfer window.
The Gunners are definitely on the market for reinforcements. Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar have made their plans, and work is being done behind the scenes to strengthen the squad.
Arsenal’s first target was Benjamin Sesko but he rejected them and decided to stay at RB Leipzig for at least another year.
Now, the Premier League runners-up have made their first move to sign a defender who’s currently at Euro 2024, but their bid has been rejected.
Arsenal’s bid to sign Ferdi Kadioglu has been rejected
Ferdi Kadioglu has been linked with a move to Arsenal for a few months now.
The Gunners have plenty of options at left-back. Oleksandr Zinchenko is the natural option, but Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jurrien Timber and Jakub Kiwior can all play there as well.
That’s more than enough depth for Arsenal for the 2023/24 season, but Arteta seems keen on adding another player in that position.
Among all the left-backs linked with a move to the Emirates is Kadioglu of Fenerbahce.
The 24-year-old, who impressed everyone with his performance for Turkey against Georgia in their 3-1 win at Euro 2024, is a wanted man this summer.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move to sign Kadioglu before the window shuts, while West Ham United are also said to be interested.
Now, Anjansspor have shared an update on the situation.
The report claims that Arsenal have tabled a €20 million (£17m) bid to sign Kadioglu, while Borussia Dortmund have offered €25 million (£21m) for the defender.
However, Fenerbahce president Ali Koc has rejected those offers and made it clear to the two clubs that he wants a fee between €35 million and €40 million (£30m-£34m) for Kadioglu.

What Kadioglu will bring to Arsenal if Arteta signs him
Kadioglu really does look like a player who’s made for Arteta.
The 24-year-old plays the inverted full-back role incredibly well. He is excellent in tight spaces and regularly finds a way to dribble his way out of trouble.
Kadioglou is also surprisingly strong and possesses good acceleration which further helps him get past opposition defenders.
What’s even more attractive about the Turk is his versatility. He can play in both full-back positions and also in midfield if required.
Scouting website Breaking the Lines compare him to Manchester City star Jack Grealish.
Hailing Kadioglu’s traits, they write: “With his low socks, shuffling style and habit of wriggling through gaps between opponents Ferdi often looks very similar to Jack Grealish on the ball.”
On paper, Kadioglu looks like a solid player, but whether Arsenal will be ready to meet Fenerbahce’s demands remains to be seen.
