Lucas Torreira has now accepted Galatasaray move - Romano
Lucas Torreira is closing in on a move to Galatasaray, with Fabrizio Romano reporting on Twitter that the Arsenal midfielder has accepted a deal with the Turkish side.
Torreira’s exit has been on the cards for some time. He has been out on loan for much of Mikel Arteta’s tenure. And he has not had a prominent role in the Gunners’ pre-season plans.
He shone in Serie A last season. But Fiorentina opted against keeping the Uruguay international.
Reports on Thursday claimed that Gala were desperate to sign the 26-year-old. And fresh talks were set to take place as they struggled to agree personal terms with Torreira.
But it seems that there has been a breakthrough. Romano has now taken to Twitter to report that Torreira has now accepted Galatasaray’s offer. Only the finer details of the contract need to be finalised before he flies out to Turkey to get the deal across the line.
Arsenal meanwhile, will receive up to £5.9 million for the former Sampdoria man…

Torreira has accepted Galatasaray move
It is a shame that Torreira’s time at Arsenal has simply not worked out. It appeared that he had the makings of a cult-hero when he arrived.
His tough-tackling and high energy style meant that he quickly became a popular player amongst the fans. However, he started to fall out of favour under Unai Emery.
And the writing appeared to be on the wall for Torreira at Arsenal when Arteta seemed to come to similar conclusions.
He had the potential to be an ‘incredible‘ signing for Arsenal. And plenty of supporters will now be hoping that he can really get his career going once he finds a new permanent home.
