‘Looking likely’: Journalist shares clause Newcastle United now want put into Martin Dubravka’s loan move to Manchester United

Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka looks set to join Manchester United on loan, according to journalist Alex Crook.

Crook believes the deal is ‘looking likely’, and Dubravka could be competing for David de Gea’s number one shirt at Old Trafford soon.

Dubravka has lost his place in Newcastle’s team this season after the signing of Nick Pope this summer.

The England international was ‘excellent’ against Manchester City and looks set to be Eddie Howe’s first choice in goal this season.

Dubravka would therefore need to leave the club to gain more first-team minutes, and may think he can oust De Gea from his spot at Man United.

According to journalist Alex Crook, Newcastle would like to decide Dubravka’s permanent future.

The Magpies would like a clause in Dubravka’s loan agreement that means Erik ten Hag’s side have either an option or obligation to buy Dubravka at the end of the deal.

“Dubravka to #MUFC looking likely. As mentioned elsewhere will be a loan initially but #NUFC want an option/obligation to buy built into the agreement.”

This could cause a merry-go-round of goalkeeper movements, with any permanent deal for Dubravka potentially giving Nottingham Forest a chance to make Dean Henderson’s loan move a long-term one.

Henderson has already put in one ‘outstanding’ performance while at the City Ground, and there were a few envious looks from Manchester United fans after De Gea’s blunders against Brentford.

Dubravka has been a solid Premier League goalkeeper for a number of years, and now looks set to join Manchester United on loan.

Ten Hag has already dropping several big stars this season, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire, and Dubravka could be the next in line to replace a United stalwart.
