‘Outstanding’: Sky Sports commentator blown away by 25-year-old Nottingham Forest man’s performance vs West Ham United

Sky Sports commentator Andy Hinchcliffe was blown away by Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Dean Henderson’s performance in the second half against West Ham United today.

Nottingham Forest got their first win of the new Premier League season today after beating the Hammers 1-0 at the City Ground.

Steve Cooper’s men took the lead at the end of the first-half thanks to a debut goal from Taiwo Awoniyi, but it was Henderson who stole the show with some vital saves.

The Reds were brilliant in the first-half and deservedly led at the break but they could have been pegged back straight after half-time if it wasn’t for the 25-year-old shot stopper.

Pablo Fornals saw a great effort come back off the crossbar and Tomas Soucek followed it up with a header, but the Manchester United loanee reacted quickly to deny the Hammers midfielder.

Henderson then saved a penalty to deny Declan Rice and Hinchcliffe raved about the Englishman’s performance on Sky Sports

Hinchcliffe was seriously impressed with Henderson’s eye-catching save to deny Soucek, despite thinking the Hammers man should’ve done better.

“But how quickly Henderson gets on his feet to make a vitally important second save,” he said.

“Dean Henderson, that ability to get off the floor quickly and make a save. Outstanding.”

And after the penalty save, the commentator heaped praise on to Henderson for his first-half performance.

He said: “The first-half belonged to Awoniyi. The second-half, so far, belongs to Dean Henderson. Two brilliant saves.

“The way that Declan Rice approaches it, he knows he’s going to go to his right. [He] reads it beautifully, he’s down quickly. Another stunning save from the Forest keeper.”

Hinchcliffe also went on to say Forest have a ‘top-class’ goalkeeper in Dean Henderson and judging by that display, he isn’t wrong.

The England international was brilliant for Sheffield United during the 2019-20 season and was one of the main reasons the Blades performed so well in the Premier League.

Cooper will be hoping Henderson can have a similar impact for Forest during his season-long loan spell from Manchester United.
