‘Looking lethal’: BBC pundit praises ‘super’ Tottenham star after Aston Villa display

BBC pundit Garth Crooks has named Tottenham Hotspur star Heung-Min Son in his Premier League team of the week.

The South Korean international is joined in Crooks’ team by teammate Dejan Kulusevski who has been labelled a revelation since his arrival from Italy.

But it was Son who grabbed the headlines against Aston Villa on Saturday evening with a hat-trick at Villa Park.

The 29-year-old is in blistering form and has six goals from his last three Premier League games.

Antonio Conte’s formidable forward trio are cutting teams apart at will currently, and it looks like Spurs are hitting red hot form under the Italian at the perfect time.

On a weekend where Wolves, West Ham, Manchester United and Arsenal all lost, Spurs’ charge for the all-important fourth and final Champions League spot looks to have been timed to perfection.

Speaking on Son’s inclusion in his team of the week, Crooks said: “This was a super show by Spurs and in particular Son Heung-min. The South Korea international is looking lethal in front of goal again.

“It is also noticeable that when Son scores, Harry Kane tends to be the provider. Both players appear to be constantly looking for each other in and around the box these days and it is a feature that has transformed Tottenham’s fortunes.”

Son’s treble against Steven Gerrard’s Villains took his Premier League tally to 17 goals, putting him second in the league’s scoring charts and three behind Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

However, excluding penalties, Spurs’ number seven has scored more goals in the Premier League this season than any other player.

Despite being in the race for the golden boot, it’s nigh on impossible that Kane will be handing over penalty duties to Son.

Conte’s side will have the opportunity to pull six points clear of Arsenal when they face Brighton in the early kick-off on Saturday.
