Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport that Dejan Kulusevski has been a revelation in the Premier League, as he named the Tottenham Hotspur forward in his team of the week off the back of his display at Aston Villa.

Tottenham have taken control of the race for the top-four in the Premier League. Antonio Conte’s men are three points clear of Arsenal. And unlike their neighbours, Spurs are absolutely flying right now.

They were devastating in front of goal on Saturday as they beat Aston Villa 4-0. Son Heung-min bagged a brilliant hat-trick. But there was also yet another goal for Kulusevski.

The Swede has started superbly following his move in January. Remarkably, he has nine goal involvements in 11 league games for Tottenham, with three goals and six assists.

He is currently on loan. But it is absolutely no surprise that reports claim that Tottenham are planning to make his deal permanent at the earliest opportunity.

And clearly, Crooks would be in favour of that decision. The BBC pundit suggested that he has been taken aback by how good the 21-year-old has been for Spurs.

“What Antonio Conte is doing at Spurs is nothing short of remarkable. He is bringing players to the club who have a different mentality to those who have been there previously,” he told BBC Sport.

“One such player is Dejan Kulusevski. He is currently on loan from Juventus but the quicker they make his position at Tottenham permanent the better.

“Kulusevski has been a revelation since his arrival from Italy and brings a certain quality to the side and a healthy competition for places.”

Tottenham fans would be forgiven for not expecting anything like this form from Dejan Kulusevski

Kulusevski clearly had potential. He is someone who has played 74 times for Juventus before the age of 22. But Tottenham fans may have assumed that signing him was a risk.

Firstly, he only joined on loan with an option to buy. And obviously, he remains a young player, so he is unlikely to be the finished article.

If there is now more to come from the forward in the years to come, Tottenham have an unbelievable player in their ranks.
