Liverpool are yet to make an official signing this summer, yet the Reds have made a healthy return on two youngsters leaving on permanent deals.

Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg both departed Anfield for Brentford this summer in transfers that could net Liverpool as much as £50m if all add-ons are met, with the youngsters hardly getting a kick in the senior team for the Merseyside giants.

With Liverpool now turning their attention to Federico Chiesa, Arne Slot’s side look ready to attack the transfer market at last with some signings of their own, with the Dutch coach aware that arrivals are needed if the Reds are to compete.

Yet it appears that another Liverpool youngster could be on the move this summer.

Tyler Morton keen on Bayer Leverkusen transfer amid transfer talks

According to Florian Plettenberg, Tyler Morton is keen on a move to Bayer Leverkusen with the Bundesliga champions in talks to bring the Liverpool midfielder to Germany.

Plettenberg wrote: “To replace Gustavo Puerta, Bayer 04 Leverkusen now pushing to sign Tyler Morton. Negotiations with Liverpool today. Talks about a loan with an option/obligation to buy. 21 y/o midfielder is keen to join Leverkusen and Xabi Alonso.”

With Morton impressing out on loan in the last two seasons, a permanent move to a club as exciting as Leverkusen would be quite the step-up for the 21-year-old midfielder, who could impress in Germany with the reigning champions.

Moreover, the chance to play under Xabi Alonso could work wonders for Morton’s development, with the former Liverpool maestro the perfect mentor for any young midfielder looking to take that next step in their career.

Morton should be doing all he can to push through Leverkusen move

Morton is one of Liverpool’s most exciting youth prospects, but with the midfielder unlikely to break into Slot’s first-team plans this season, a permanent change of scenery could be what the England youth international needs.

And no proposal this summer could be better than Leverkusen, with the German champions one of the most exciting teams in Europe under Alonso with this season expected to be another entertaining one.

Indeed, the Bundesliga has proven to be an exceptional league for young English talents looking for their big break at the highest level, and Leverkusen can be just that for Morton this summer.
