Report: Newcastle now interested in signing £66m star who’s ‘lightning’ quick with a left foot ‘like a wand’

Newcastle United are now interested in signing Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic, according to a surprising report coming from Italy today.

Calciomercato claims that the Magpies are dreaming of signing Vlahovic in the event that they qualify for the Champions League this season. And they are apparently even willing to offer their record-signing Alexander Isak as part of the deal.

Eddie Howe brought in Isak over the summer for a club-record fee of £63 million (Sky Sports). The Swede has been ruled out for the past two months but got off to a promising start to his Newcastle career.

Callum Wilson has been in brilliant form this season as well, scoring six goals in 11 Premier League appearances. But it seems that the Magpies could be eyeing a shock move for Vlahovic next summer.

Newcastle interested in Vlahovic

Calciomercato reports that Newcastle could try to convince the Old Lady to allow Vlahovic to leave by offering Isak as part of the deal.

But it’s unlikely that Juve will accept these conditions and they have no intention of selling the 22-year-old, unless the offer is well above his market value.

The Serbian striker has been in devastating form over the past three seasons and his goal scoring earned him the £66 million move to Juve last January (Sky Sports).

Vlahovic has already netted seven goals in 15 appearances this season, after scoring 45 times during the last campaign.

Micah Richards has labelled Vlahovic as a ‘lightning’ quick player and praised his ‘wand-like’ left foot.

“I have watched him a couple of times now,” Richards told BBC Radio Five Live.

“He is lightning. It’s ridiculous. He has got 16 in 18 this season. His left foot is like a wand. I am telling you now, he is everything, he is everything you need,” as transcribed by the Independent

TBR View: Unlikely that Newcastle will give up on Isak already

Isak hasn’t featured for the Magpies since September but he showed real promise in his first three games.

The 23-year-old managed to score twice before picking up a hamstring injury which has left him sidelined until after the World Cup.

There’s no denying that Vlahovic is a brilliant goalscorer, but it seems unlikely that Newcastle would be willing to give up Isak just months after bringing him to the club.

Juventus will also be adamant that they are not selling their talisman, especially after he’s only spent just under one year at the club.

Newcastle have been smart in terms of their business over the past two windows and it’s helped them get off to a brilliant start to the new campaign.
