Liverpool are reportedly edging closer to signing Luis Diaz from Porto this weekend, with the Colombian star set to undergo a medical and complete formalities ahead of Monday.

The Reds have moved quickly to tie up a deal for Diaz ahead of Tottenham, who thought they’d got their man as well late as Thursday this week. However, news of Spurs’ contact and deal with Porto alerted Liverpool, who have stepped in and seemingly got their man.

Diaz is signing for Liverpool as a winger in the main. It is where he has made his name with Porto, often cutting in from the left and wreaking havoc for the the Portuguese side. However, according to a report from The Athletic, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could have other plans for his new man.

The Athletic claim that the Reds see Diaz as player of huge potential. And while they see him as being a viable option on the left where Sadio Mane, Jurgen Klopp also fancies playing Diaz in a more central role. In certain games, then, this could mean we see Mane, Salah, Jota, and Diaz all in the same starting line-up.

TBR’s View: Diaz Good Enough To Play Anywhere For Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has tried a similar thing with Bobby Firmino in the past but you have the say the sheer pace, trickery and eye for the spectacular make this a mouth-watering prospect for Liverpool fans.

Diaz coming in instantly makes what is already a brilliant team even better. And for other teams in the Premier League, it should be quite a scary thought.
