Report: Liverpool will dig heels over Mane exit, could demand more than they paid for Diaz
Liverpool might well lose Sadio Mane this summer but the Reds will demand a big sum of money for the winger, according to 90min.
Reports over the weekend have intensified when it comes to Mane’s future at Liverpool, with Fabrizio Romano claiming this morning that Mane had indeed decided to leave Anfield. Bayern Munich are thought to be the number one potential destination for the Senegalese star.
However, while Mane is clearly fancying a move away from Liverpool, the Reds themselves won’t make it easy for any potential buyers. 90Min reports how the Reds want a big fee for the former Southampton man, and could ask for as much as £40m+ for Mane.
Of course, that would be a bigger fee than the Reds shelled out initially to sign Luis Diaz in January. Diaz’s arrival, it is felt by many, has influenced Mane’s decision to seek pastures new. Mane is believed to fancy a new challenge having won everything there is to win with the Reds.
Mane, 30, has scored more than 100 goals for Liverpool since arriving from Southampton. He is widely seen as one of the catalysts for the revolution under Klopp at Anfield, and is well-liked by Reds fans.
TBR’s View: Sadio Mane Will Need Replacing At Liverpool
There is no doubt that Sadio Mane will be a big loss for the Reds. The forward has been outstanding for them since he signed and this season he’s arguably been better than ever.
Liverpool are signing Fabio Carvalho in the summer and he’ll go some way to alleviating the pressure that comes with replacing Mane. However, Klopp will surely want someone else in the window, even though he got Diaz in January.
Mane is a Liverpool legend and it’s a shame he didn’t get the finish he wanted last night.
