Liverpool and Arsenal transfer target Mason Mount will reportedly become a crucial player under Mauricio Pochettino should he become manager of Chelsea.
Liverpool have been linked with Mount for quite a while, as have Arsenal. Chelsea have placed a £70million price tag on the attacking midfielder.
The latest report from The Daily Mail states that incoming Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino sees Mount as a “key player”.
He believes Mount, who’s contract expires in June 2024, can be an “integral” part of the Chelsea squad in his team next season. Pochettino is a “big admirer” of the England international.

Liverpool target Mount seen as key player
It is no shock to see Liverpool want to sign Mount. He has shown world-class qualities whilst at Chelsea. Sadly, mainly due to injury, this season hasn’t been his best.
Despite this, the Champions League winner has proven that he can excel in the Premier League. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will now be disappointed that Pochettino wants to keep him.
The “phenomenal” 24 year-old only has a year left on his Chelsea contract. He will want this issue sorted sooner rather than later.
Pochettino still hasn’t been announced by the Blues, but it looks very likely that he will be appointed manager of the South London club. This may tempt Mount to stay should the move be completed.
It will no doubt be a tense few months for both Chelsea and Liverpool whilst this situation around Mount continues. If he doesn’t want to sign a new deal, then he could be signed on a free transfer next summer.
