After joining the club for £34 million, Mohamed Salah has had his first taste of Liverpool life with an interview with the club’s website. The Egyptian spoke to liverpoolfc.com, telling them his initial feelings on finally joining the Anfield outfit. He said: “I’m very excited to be here. I’m very happy. Everyone knows the club is very big. We have to do something for the fans and win something.”

The former Chelsea star highlighted Jurgen Klopp as one of the reasons he joined, calling the German a “great coach”. He also thanked his new teammate Roberto Firmino for allowing him to continue his career wearing the number 11 shirt. The Egyptian said: “I appreciate what Firmino did – I have to thank him very much. I like the number 11; it was my number in Rome and also the national team before. I like this number.”

While Salah adapts to life in England again, one star that has spent all his career playing Premier League football could be following the 25-year-old to Anfield.

According to the Independent, Arsenal are ready to allow Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to leave for £25 million as the London club need to cut their wage bill to meet the Premier League’s new cost control measures.

Chamberlain is tipped to be one of eight players leaving the Emirates this summer and with only one year left on his contract, he could seal a move to the Reds.

Klopp is known to be an admirer and a versatile home-grown talent would give Liverpool more depth to challenge both domestically and in the Champions League. The Englishman is able to play anywhere across midfield, on the wings in a more attacking formation and as a right wing-back.

Much of Liverpool’s transfer gossip has focused on their wingers recently and more rumours suggest that Lazar Markovic has been the subject of a £10 million bid by his former boss Marco Silva, who is now with Watford.

Football Whispers exclusively revealed that Watford made an £8 million bid, with £2 million of add-ons. However, Liverpool rejected the offer. The Reds bought Markovic for £20 million in 2014 and he has since failed to hold down a first-team spot, despite being highly rated among supporters.

The 23-year-old spent half of last season with Marco Silva at Hull City, appearing 12 times and scoring twice. The winger looked confident and impressive under the Portuguese manager but his form wasn’t enough to help Hull avoid relegation. It remains to be seen whether Markovic’s performances at the Tigers will enable him to rejuvenate his Liverpool career.
