Liverpool release retained list; Leeds-linked Yasser Larouci offered fresh terms
Liverpool have released their retained list and Leeds-linked defender, Yasser Larouci, has been offered a new contract.
Via the club’s official website, the Reds have confirmed a number of young players have left the club. However, one of those young players will not be Larouci, for now anyway.
Liverpool have confirmed that the youngster has been offered a new deal, alongside Remi Savage.
Larouci, 20, has been linked with Leeds for a while now. As covered by TBR, via the Mirror’s print edition in March, the Whites were said to still be keen on the Algerian youngster.
But despite an Instagram post from Billy Koumetio suggesting that Larouci had left Anfield, it might not be the end of the road for the starlet just yet.
Larouci could well opt to pen fresh terms with the Reds as yet. Especially, if no other offers are forthcoming with the likes of Leeds.
Liverpool are yet to hand a Premier League debut to Larouci. However, he is thought to be highly thought of on Merseyside. Indeed, the new contract offer would suggest as much.
Liverpool retained list has no surprises but Larouci needs to decide quickly
There must be something else bubbling under the surface if Larouci is going to turn down Liverpool here. They are a top club, and Jurgen Klopp does give youngsters a go if they are ready.
Larouci, then, might feel he is best off staying put for now. It’s certainly a show of faith from the club, anyway.
However, he might also feel he can play right away. But even if he moves to Leeds, he might not be a guaranteed starter. Granted, there might be more opportunity for him, but he still faces an uphill task.
Larouci needs to make his mind up with this one. Leeds won’t wait forever, while Liverpool will also move swiftly on if he doesn’t sign.
