Liverpool reportedly want to sign 'powerful' 21-year-old striker, he's 'the future'
Reported Liverpool target Erling Braut Haaland has been described as “the future” by Maxence Lacroix.
Indeed, the defender says he’d rather play against Robert Lewandowski than the Anfield-linked powerhouse.
According to a September report in 90Min, Liverpool have already held talks with Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola.
The report also claims the Borussia Dortmund ace is set to move in 2022 as a release clause in his contract kicks in at the turn of the year.
Liverpool are likely to be up against strong competition for Haaland’s signature, however.
Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea – a who’s who of football giants have been linked.
But whoever signs the £141,000-a-week star would be getting a striker with a staggering goal record.
Haaland has 68 goals and 19 assists from just 67 competitive games for Dortmund.
And for Red Bull Salzburg, he got 29 goals and seven assists from 27 appearances.
Lacroix, who plays for Wolfsburg, is a talented young defender who has been compared to Rio Ferdinand and was linked with Spurs in the summer.
And even he admits playing against Haaland is a difficult job.
Reported Liverpool target Haaland is “just so powerful”
The Bundesliga website asked Lacroix who he thinks is the best striker in the league.
“Haaland is very good,” he replied. “I also have huge respect for Lewandowski.
“When I played against him, he was very, very good. But I think Haaland is the future.
“I don’t know whether he will stay in the Bundesliga or go elsewhere but he is very good.”
When asked who he’d rather play, Lacroix replied: “I think I would prefer to play against Lewandowski because Haaland is just so powerful.
“You have to be fully concentrated when you play against him. They’re different kinds of players, but both extremely good.”
