Liverpool reportedly want Premier League star that Lallana claims has asked him about Anfield, this year

Liverpool are reportedly interested in raiding Brighton for midfielder Pascal Gross this summer, as they look for a Gini Wijnaldum replacment. Gross has been linked with Liverpool in the past and now, amid new reports, recent comments from Adam Lallana will surely intrigue Reds fans.

Italian website TuttoMercatoWeb reported earlier this week that Gross, who turned 30 on Tuesday, is a target for Liverpool. The former Ingolstadt midfielder has now completed four years on the south coast with Brighton. Clocking up 137 games for the Seagulls, he has scored 15 and created 25.

Just last season, he had a hand in 13 goals in what is a more expansive team under Graham Potter. A decent return. It has seemingly attracted Liverpool to the £3million (Mirror) Brighton star. Only a couple of months ago, Lallana spoke of the player’s love for Klopp and Liverpool.

“Gross is a top player, a football fanatic. He loves asking me about Jurgen and what he does here and there,” Lallana told Super 6 in April. “We’re football geeks, we could talk for hours. He sits next to me in the dressing room. We speak about games every night, how did Liverpool do last night.”

Is Gross good enough for Liverpool, amid Lallana comments?

It is a tricky one. Last season he was brilliant. He produced 11 goal involvements in 34 Premier League games and for a club like Brighton that normally finish in the bottom third of the table, that is a decent contribution. However, the issue is that he has just turned 30.

Michael Edwards is very unlikely to go for a player in their late twenties – proved by his more-recent activity. They have to be a world beater for Liverpool to sign a player at that age – Thiago, for example. While Gross would be a decent addition, Liverpool can do better.
