Liverpool predicted XI v Arsenal as Curtis Jones decision made and £80k-a-week ace drops out

Liverpool are gearing up for a huge Premier League game this Sunday as they head to fellow title challengers Arsenal for a 4:30pm kick-off.

Arne Slot’s Reds are flying high at present, sitting near the top of the Premier League table and with a perfect record in the Champions League and Carabao Cup.

Liverpool are up against an Arsenal side that lost their last Premier League game but bounced back with a Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk in midweek.

TBR Football looks at who Slot could name in his Liverpool starting XI for Sunday’s trip to the Emirates Stadium.

Liverpool team news v Arsenal

Liverpool are set to be without five players for the trip to Arsenal.

Conor Bradley, Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota, who all missed the midweek win at RB Leipzig, will also be absent for Sunday’s game.

“I think they feel good but not when it comes to playing for us during the weekend,” Slot is quoted by the Liverpool media team as saying on Friday.

“Federico might train with us today or tomorrow – but Diogo definitely not. And Conor Bradley, let’s see if he can be with us tomorrow.”

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker also remains on the sidelines, along with midfielder Harvey Elliott.

Liverpool backed to keep Alexis Mac Allister in XI at expense of Curtis Jones

Slot is unlikely to make many changes to the Liverpool XI, which currently picks itself for the most part.

Caoimhin Kelleher has been superb in Alisson’s absence and is expected to start once again in between the sticks.

In defence, only Kostas Tsimikas is likely to make way, with Andrew Robertson expected to replace the £80,000-a-week ace (Salarysport).

Elsewhere at the back, Slot is likely to opt for Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Curtis Jones shone against Chelsea last week and will hope to get the nod again, but we feel Alexis Mac Allister will start instead.

Dominik Szoboszlai is likely to complete the midfield, his passing, link-up play and off-the-ball work crucial for the Reds.

Finally, we predict the Liverpool frontline will consist of Darwin Nunez leading the line and Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz either side of him.
