Report: Liverpool make contact over signing £33.5m 'genius' ahead of summer transfer window
Liverpool have now made initial contact with Roma over the potential signing of their star midfielder, Nicolo Zaniolo, according to reports in Italy.
We reported on TBR just last week how Liverpool were looking into the possibility of signing Zaniolo this summer.
It’s been claimed that the Reds want to beat a host of clubs, including Tottenham, to the signing of the Italian star.
And now, according to AS Roma Live, Liverpool are said to have made some form of initial contact over doing a deal for the impressive midfielder. The report states how both Liverpool and Tottenham have made ‘exploratory surveys’ on Zaniolo’s availability ahead of the summer window.
Previously lauded for his ‘flashes of genius’, Zaniolo is recognised as one of the most talented midfielders in the Italian game. The 22-year-old is capable of playing in a number of positions. Predominantly used off the right or as a number ten, Zaniolo can also drop deeper if needed into the midfield.
Roma are thought to value the midfielder at around £33.5m.
TBR’s View: Zaniolo Perfect For Liverpool
If Liverpool want to keep adding to their already brilliant squad then Nicolo Zaniolo is the ideal player.
He has a bit of everything in the locker. Excellent on the ball, capable of knocking in the odd goal when it’s required and also a chief creator at Roma, he’d certainly improve this Liverpool side further. Whether or not, however, Klopp would use him slightly deeper remains to be seen.
The Italian has two years left on his deal in Rome so he is there to be shot at. And in fairness, that £33.5m fee would be a bit of a bargain.
For Liverpool, just like the Luis Diaz signing, this would be an addition who would improve the Reds squad.
