Liverpool might have lost the Champions League final last night but it seems plans are firmly in place when it comes to trying to bring in new players.

While speculation continues over the futures of players like Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, it seems the Reds are trying to freshen up the squad anyway. And one such player the Reds are keen on is Barcelona midfield starlet, Gavi.

And now, according to 90Min, Liverpool have apparently made a fresh approach to land the Barcelona starlet. The Reds are said to be acutely aware of a 50 million euro release-clause in Gavi’s contract. With that, Liverpool are thought to have ‘tested the water’ before yesterday’s final.

However, 90Min reports that Barcelona have confidence that the teenager will indeed sign a new contract. Of course, that new contract will likely contain a huge release-clause, as is the norm in La Liga.

Liverpool are facing up to a big summer this year. With Mane and Salah both potentially on the way out and a midfield which is in need of a boost, Jurgen Klopp is actively looking at new players. Aurelian Tchouameni is another name that has been linked with a move to Anfield.

TBR’s View: Gavi To Liverpool Would Be A Huge Surprise

You have to admire Liverpool’s ambition here if anything. Gavi is one of the best young players in Europe and looks to be firmly on course to become a world-class player.

However, there is just no way Barcelona will be letting him walk away. Yes, that release-clause is there at the moment but even Liverpool must realise that this is a tough deal to even try and sort out.

For the Reds, they’ll need to move onto more realistic targets you feel. The midfield does need a new body in there, so FSG needs to back Klopp with the money this summer.
