Liverpool are reportedly battling some of Europe’s biggest clubs in the race to sign FC Dallas wonderkid Ricardo Pepi – and Liverpool fans have reacted.

Pepi, 18, has been on fire for Dallas during the 2021 campaign. His form might be in vain, with Dallas in 12th in the Western Conference this term.

However, his form has attracted European interest. Scoring 13 goals in 27 appearances, as well as laying on two assists – is superb for an 18-year-old.

That form has saw him get two caps for the United States, in which he has already scored three times. Some of Europe’s biggest are also interested.

CBS report that Liverpool are battling Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Ajax in chasing Texas-born Pepi.

However, Wolfsburg are said to have agreed terms to sign the forward. But the Bundesliga side are yet to agree a fee for Dallas, who want a big sum.

The report says they are looking for a fee between £8.75million and £11million, and do not want to sell until after the 2022 World Cup.

What are Liverpool fans saying about a potential move for Pepi?

Liverpool need cover for their front three, and adding a player with Pepi’s current quality – but also his potential – makes complete sense.

The striker is already very good and would be ideal for FA Cup or Carabao Cup games – to give the first teamers a rest. But he also has that potential.

Unlike Divock Origi, he can grow and get just as good as Liverpool’s best options. Reds fans have reacted on Twitter, urging their club to sign Pepi.
